Data collection is vital for People Living With Disabilities throughout the country.
Director of Callan Services National Unit, Brother Kevin Ryan, said this data will help in the planning of its role in supporting PLWD’s.
Brother Kevin made this statement at the opening of a three day annual conference for Callan Services in Port Moresby yesterday.
According to the Head of Callan Services National Unit, the basic reporting of any PLWD in a community is crucial.
This effort is progressing, and constantly needs improving to help give PLWD’s an equal opportunity to participate and contribute meaningfully in an inclusive society.
He says, the development of the strategic plan will see CSNU improve current dialogue with other stakeholders to advance services for PLWD’s.
Representatives from 17 other centres outside Port Moresby are participating in the workshop.
There is significant progress with helping services reach PLWD’s but challenges remain.
The workshop will end tomorrow.
