Oceania Cruises new refurbished ship Sirena arrived in Port Moresby yesterday morning.
The cruise, on its Winter collection voyage, visited Alotau in the Milne Bay province for a day, before arriving in the Nation’s Capital.
Last year after its refurbishment, the Oceania Cruises announced the Ship’s 2016-2017 winter collection voyage and Alotau and Port Moresby are among the 19 ports, which were listed for the cruise to visit.
Yesterday, the ship arrived at Port Moresby’s shores after its visit to Alotau.
The ship built to cater for more than 500 passengers, had tourists on-board accompanying it in its journey. Most of the tourists on board are retired professionals.
The tourists were excited and looked forward to making the one day visit a memorable one.
More than twenty PMV buses, plus shuttle buses were in waiting, and transported the tourists to tour the city. The tourists were also accompanied by the local tour guides. The four tour groups included City, Coastal Villages, Sogeri and the War Memorial tour group.
Despite the hot sun, the tourists were excited and happy to tour around Port Moresby before departing for Australia.
The one day visit to Alotau and Port Moresby is part of the cruise’s voyage and will continue its journey to other selected ports.
The cruise was scheduled to depart last night.
