The Organisers of the Pacific Tuna Forum 2017 were forced to defer the opening session, following continuous power outages.
The outages, accounting to 15, happened during the forum’s Keynote speech by Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission Executive Director, Feleti Teo.
According to many present, this was unacceptable, and an embarrassment, especially with Port Moresby preparing to host major meetings, including APEC 2018.
EMTV News was informed that the venue’s backup generator had been negatively affected by the continuous power fluctuations – which caused the disruptions.
However, this problem was rectified during the lunch break – with the program continuing but still behind schedule.
