Defending Champions Toti City Dwellers showed no mercy, with a commanding 8-1 win over neighbors Buang FC at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae on Saturday (January 20 2018).
The PNG internationals in the Dwellers outfit, Nigel Dedinyaba, Raymond Gunemba and Immanuel Simon all scoring a double each to race away with a comfortable win.
The Morobeans rivalry was always going to be a thriller, the NSL round two clash between the 3 time champions City Dwellers and determined Buwang FC proved entertaining for the bumper crowd at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae.
Buwang knew they had to start the match with aggression and make the Dwellers work, especially in the back line.
A couple of early attempts at Dwellers goal mouth sent a positive vibe up the stands to their loyal fans.
But that hope was shot lived as the men in yellow found their feet with the opener from Nigel Debiyaba.
Dedinyaba’s goal soon paved the way for the defending champions to revert back to their trait mark style of play, keeping their opponents guessing and making them pay.
The PNG Kapuls slick combination of Jacob Sabua and Imanuel Simon again left the crowd in awe as Simon slotted his second into the net for the City Dwellers.
It was then a matter of who’s scoring next as the Dwellers midfielders kept their composer providing solutions to their charges with their skipper grabbing a double at the stroke of half-time.
Going into the second stanza 5 goals down was a mammoth task for Buwang to overcome, but with gritted teeth and sheer deamination Buwang register their first goal of the afternoon.
But the City side was quick to respond as Dedinyaba collected his second with Tutizama Taninto marking his return to NSL with a stunner.
A delighted Toti City Dwellers coach Peter Gunemba praised his side for their effort but highlighted areas of improvement.
The match ended with Toti City Dwellers winning the match by 8 goals to one.
