Lawn Bowls and Beach Volleyball are now slotted into the Bisini Parade Sports Grounds master plan, released yesterday by the Venue, Infrastructure and Equipment Committee of the 2015 Pacific Games Authority.
The plan meets the required international standards, and would soon be visible with groundwork.
A long awaited Bisini Parade Sports Grounds will now undergo reconstruction work. The Rita Flynn Netball Court alone will see work at the cost of K54 million from the total of K84 million allocated by the National Government.
Yesterday, the Venue, Infrastructure and Equipment Committee presented the Bisini Parade Master plan.
The National Federations, PNG Sports Foundation, PNG Olympic Committee, including the sports ministry, were present at the South Pacific Brewery Headquarters in Port Moresby, to witness the unveiling of the master plan.
Lawn Bowls was given a spot next to the Rita Flynn Netball Court and the Softball diamonds will be next to the Cricket grounds, while the AFL Oval is placed where the current Softball diamonds are.
The two grounds are designed to FIFA standard, two IRB standard ovals for rugby union, and a multi-purpose touch football field.
The Pacific Games Legacy Committee Chairman, Stan Joyce, said the planning was done thoroughly with close consultation with an Australian Consulting Firm, SGL, which has been engaged to provide expertise and guidance with the implementation of Legacy Plans for Venues being built and modified for the 2015 Games.
The Lloyd Robson Oval, just right across from here, will be a News for all Rugby League action.
