Efforts to improve their standing in the World Cricket League Championship from 4th placing are now at a standstill, now that the Barramundis were defeated by 2 ODI matches to one by the United Arab Emirates.
After losing by a massive 82 runs to UAE in the ODI series opener last Sunday, the Barramundis, made a great come back with a 26 run win that equalized the score line at 1 all.
Batting first, UAE recorded 9 for 251 in their allotted 50 overs.
UAE’s opening batsman Rohan Mustafa wrought havoc for PNG with his maiden ODI century of 109 runs.
In the second inning, PNG’s chase ended quickly as a by-product of a top order collapse which saw them at 5 for 16 just after 20 overs.
The home side was too strong and the Barras were eventually all out at a disappointing 148 after 35 overs.
