The Angau General Hospital in Lae now has a new CT Scan and Digital Mammography machine, courtesy of the National Fisheries Authority (NFA).
Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Christopher Kenyhercz said these items will greatly help the hospitals operations.
“They’ll help Angau and the patients in Lae and Morobe in a number of ways. In diagnostic, in treatment, in regular care, in surgery, and intensive care, pediatrics …” said Dr, Keny Hercz.
Since 2015, Angau and the NFA have been working closely to acquire medical equipment for the hospital. Other items given by the NFA also included ventilators and anesthetic machines.
Representing the NFA was Fisheries Minister, Patrick Basa, who said the assistance was part of the authority’s corporate social responsibility, to assist hospitals.
The Angau hospital is also home to the country’s only Cancer Treatment Centre. Dr. Kenyhercz says these equipment will help in early detection for cancer patients.
