Earlier in the month, Pukpuks 7s star Henry Liliket’s spot in the squad for the Commonwealth Games depended on the progress of his recovery, after suffering a broken ankle.
With Liliket fully ruled out for the remainder of the season, speedster and former Pukpuk representative, Albert Levi, now bears the pressure of performing in Lilikets jersey.
Lorraine Genia confirmed his selection in a telephone interview today.
The sevens rugby fraternity will be sure to suffer with the devastating loss of superstar, Henry Liliket.
Liliket, who was one out of three players identified and selected by the Owls Rugby Union Club in Canberra’s premier grade competition, suffered a broken ankle and has not recovered in time.
In a telephone interview this afternoon, Albert Levi confirmed he was Liliket’s substitute.
With the credentials of former Pukpuk and Kimbe Rebels superstar under his belt, Levi makes for a perfect replacement.
Although Liliket’s shoes seem almost impossible to fill, Levi is up for selection and takes the opportunity with great gratitude to represent his country at such a prestigious event.
With the whole team currently undergoing an intensive training program under the Brumbies-Monier agreement, Levi is left with the responsibility of maintaining his own fitness and adhering to the rest of the team’s training program.
Levi will fly to Port Moresby on the 1st of July to join the team before heading off to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.
