Abau Students Receive Sponsorship Assistance

The Abau District Administration in the Central Province released K230, 000 towards school fee payments of students attending various tertiary institutions in the country yesterday.

The payments are the results of a decision by the Joint District Planning and Budget Priority Committee to assist students pursue quality education.

 

Local MP and Public Service Minister, Sir Puka Temu, presented the subsidy cheques to tertiary representatives in Port Moresby witnessed by officers of the district.

 

Sir Puka said the district will also assist students attending private institutions like Don Bosco Technical College, Institute of Business Studies, and International Training Institute.

 

The 49 students captured in this sponsorship are from the three Local Level Governments of the district. 

 

The financial assistance is an extension of subsidies paid by the Office of the Central Governor, Kila Haoda.

 

Governor Haoda is subsidizes about K2, 000 per student in tertiary institutions. The scheme will expand and continue in 2015.
