Several resolutions were reached when the Vanimo Green Joint District Planning and Budget Priorities Committee met this week.
In its second meeting for this year, the committee passed a resolution that one contractor will be in charge of scoping and valuing all projects.
This is because the district had some experiences with contractors leaving incomplete projects in the past.
Vanimo Green district in Sandaun province had its 2nd meeting on Wednesday.
The district office itself is seeing some renovations as well as construction of an extension to the office complex.
After a lengthy closed door meeting, it concluded at around 5pm in the afternoon.
Straight after concluding the JDP, BPC meeting the local member and Opposition leader Belden Namah visited Wutung Primary School along the West Coast.
He was accompanied by Sandaun Province acting Governor Paul Nengai, who is also part of the JDP BPC.
Apart from other district issues, Mr.Namah counted the committee’s resolution on setting strict guidelines for contractors.
He said many contractors leave without delivering the projects which means the district has to spend extra money in order for projects to be completed.
A project designer is yet to be identified by the joint committee, which will take charge of all designs in the district.
Slow release of last year’s 10 million kina for the district’s service improvement program has delayed projects in the district, and so money intended for last year is expended this year.
Wutung primary school will be a recipient of 15 double classrooms that will be delivered to Vanimo Green district.
