“LOAD SHEDDING” – Theckla Gunga

 

Residents in NCD will be experiencing load shedding starting today. This comes after the water level at Sirinumu Dam decreased over 60 per cent following the long dry spell at the catchment.

 

PNG Power has published load shedding schedules in the two daily newspapers and customers with standby generators are asked to use them during this time. NCD residents are advised to use power wisely and to turn off all power points that are not in use. The load shedding will continue throughout the week.

 


 

He called on the public to take early warning signs seriously and get treatment as soon as possible.

 

The remarks come after talks with the Director of the World Health Organisation.

 

Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill says since the advent of free basic health care recently, there have been improvements, but considerable challenges remain, especially where TB is concerned.

 

He said shortfalls include delivery issues when drugs are not delivered on time, which causes patients to miss out on the required dosage. 

 

The government will also be carrying out awareness on the outbreak of measles.

 

The Prime Minister also spoke about his recent attendance at the Pacific Islands Forum, congratulating Dame Meg Taylor for making PNG proud by being elected Secretary General of the Forum Secretariat.

 

Climate change mitigation was discussed, as well as Fiji’s inclusion in the Forum after it carries out fresh democratic elections.

 

He also paid tribute to prominent Papua New Guineans that passed away on the weekend which included former EM TV Journalist, Jerry Ginua.
