Meanwhile, Chief Momis says the mediaโs role in communication, advocacy and development, is vital for the Autonomous Bougainville Government. The media will be involved in the dissemination of public information on Bougainvilleโs referendum, and the Bougainville Peace Agreement awareness. This is to ensure, people access these information, implemented under the Information and Communications Division.

โPRISON OVERCROWDINGโ – Fabian Hakalitz

The Correctional Services Department will look at ways to assist Bougainville in terms of capacity building for existing correctional facilities. Minister responsible, Jim Simatab, has pledged two hundred thousand kina, to build a new lock-up for Bekut Prison.

The new building will house the inmates, as the current building is overcrowded.
This will also ease overcrowding in Police lockups at Arawa and Buka Police stations.
A separate female prison accommodation will also be built.

Minister Simatab said the Correctional Services Department is trying its best to ensure overcrowding problems faced by jails throughout the country, are fixed once and for all.

Former PNG Sprinter and member of the Heroic four by one hundred and four by four hundred PNG Menโs relay team who that took Gold in the 1991 SP Games, Subul Babo, says that PNG has the potential to take Gold on the track in the Pacific Games in 2015.

Babo was part of the technical officials at the recently-ended Athletics PNG 53rd Open and Under 18 National Championships in Kokopo, East New Britain Province.
He spoke about his time as an athlete, and how todayโs PNG runners are so different to those of 23 years ago.
