Parking Dilemma

Traffic came to a standstill this morning in downtown Port Moresby. This happened when two vehicles, coming from two different directions, got caught out in a one lane tussle.

This road, enroute to Deloittes tower and leading up to Paga hill, is starting to bring about unnecessary road rage.

This morning, a ten seater land cruiser made a dash into the lane of oncoming traffic, only to find itself at a standstill.

After an exchange of horns and not wanting to give in, there was only one way out, to reverse all the way back and give way to the trail of cars that had piled up.

The problem lies with vehicles double parking on the second lane that’s meant for oncoming traffic. If you look closely, there aren’t any signs to state whether double parking or parking here, is allowed at all.

The signs are evident on the road leading towards the Bank of Papua New Guinea, and the US embassy.
