US Offer Climate Change Grants
In a press statement released today, the U.S. Agency for International Development is offering grants โ Pacific-American Climate Fund, worth US $24 million (about K70 million).
Civil society organizations throughout the Pacific, including Papua New Guinea, will implement climate change adaptation projects.

The grants program is called the Pacific-American Climate Fund, and grant applications.

US Ambassador Walter North said, โPNG, like many other island nations, experiences extreme weather conditions, king tides, and rising sea levels.โ He said climate change is real and must be addressed.

The event featured training workshops for local stakeholders and civil society leaders, on how to apply for the grant opportunity.

Non-government organizations that work to support climate change adaptation measures, and reduce related vulnerabilities at the community level are eligible to apply.

Executive Director for the Office of Climate Change and Development, Varigini Badira, said climate change is โa pressing cross-cutting issue, that is costing the government of PNG real economic, social, and environmental losses.โ
