Donations of food items continue to flood in from the Australian government to victims of Solomon Islands flood disaster, who are currently residing in Port Moresby.
Australian Senator, Bret Mason, who was accompanied by the Australian High Commissioner Andrew Byrne and Head of AusAID in the Solomon Islands, AusAID personnel and other donor partners, visited the victims at the Don Bosco Technical Institute where they distributed much of the survival kits, blankets with household items for each of the families.
Spokesman, Francis Garimana on behalf of the victims, thanked the Australian government for the help rendered during the recent floods and requested for support to rebuild their homes. He expressed his gratitude to Don Bosco Technical Institute for the venue.
The Guadalcanal Province Personnel brought them from the Rove Evacuation Centre on 8th of April. The victims have asked the Australian government to rebuild their homes and thanked the PNG Government for housing them during their time of need.
Guadalcanal Medical Personnel have examined the children and have treated them for any ailments.
Since April 8th when the floods occurred, about 240 people were evacuated to Port Moresby and are currently housed at DBTI. They are divided into five groups for easy distribution of food and materials. All victims are from the Foxwood area of Solomon Islands.
