PNG Kids To Benefit Cowboys Boots For Bush Campaign

Rugby league youngsters in Papua New Guinea are about to become the first beneficiaries of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboysโ€™ Boots for the Bush campaign in 2014.

ย

Sixty-six pairs of boots were donated to the Sport Scene Super Warehouse in Townsville, Australia and will be delivered by Youth With A Mission (YWAM) next Tuesday.

Cowboysโ€™ PNG Rugby League World Cup representative Ray Thompson was on hand to drop off the boots.

ย

Mr Thompson said, PNG children love their footy but unfortunately miss out either because of cost reasons or the lack of availability. โ€œItโ€™s amazing how big the response for Boots for the Bush has been in less than 12 months,โ€ Thompson said.

ย

โ€œThe guys at Sportscene tell me theyโ€™ve got dozens and dozens of boots at their stores waiting to be taken out to remote communities in the next few weeks.

ย

โ€œItโ€™s great to have that support and I know the kids in PNG are going to love it when the YWAM volunteers turn up with these boxes.

ย

Upon delivering the boots, rugby league clinics will run alongside with healthy lifestyles as well as basic primary health care education.
