Reigning champs Hekari kicked off round 2 of NSL with a tough win, against Eastern Stars FC in the double-header at the IPA Oval in Port Moresby today.
In the first half, the Eastern Stars outfit was held scoreless to a fanciful Hekari side, with Tuimasi Manuca scoring just before half time.
Despite the absence of Richard Sios in the front line, the Eastern Stars held their composure to keep Hekari from scoring in the second half.
Fresh legs Kema Jack Raymond Gunemba and Willie Gia in the second half brought flare but didn’t claim any points.
Both goal keeper were tested despite both sides compiling a number of missed opportunities throughout the game.
Hekari outclassed a poised Eastern Stars side, 4-nil, and will prepare to depart for Fiji next week to kick off the Oceania Football Championships.
