Tura Donates To Cancer Foundation

Papua New Guineaโ€™s favourable sporting mascot Tura the Kokomo, makes a statement yet again.

This time not amongst a crowd of enthusiastic children, instead while making a generous pledge to the PNG Cancer Foundation.ย

PNG Cancer Foundation ambassadorial, Linda Babao, and CEO, Dadi Toka Junior, were all smiles after PNGโ€™s most adored mascot, Tura the Kokomo, donated a heart-felt K2000.

ย 

The funds were raised at the โ€˜Biggest Morning Teaโ€™ hosted by the Games Organizing Committee of the Pacific Games.

ย 

Donations as such, create avenue to travel and spread awareness of the deadly causes of cancer.

ย 

Ms. Babao stresses that the stain of betel nut, is the stain of cancer.ย 

ย 

Children who start chewing at the age of 5 are more likely to have mouth cancer by the ages of 20-30.

ย 

Chairwoman of the 2015 Pacific Games, Emma Waiwai says Turaโ€™s efforts in promoting the awareness and prevention of Cancer ties in perfectly with the games message of promoting healthy active lifestyles.

The PNG Cancer Foundation has extended their initiative of the โ€˜Biggest Morning Teaโ€™ from May to end of June.

ย 

In his efforts to promoting the games message and bringing it closer to the people, Tura will be travelling nationwide, and will start with Kokopo this week.
