Sogeri National High School has recorded a twenty five percent increase in its students’ academic performance since two thousand and nine.
This was announced during the launch of five new building infrastructures at Sogeri National School by the Principal Benny Rayappan today.
The launch is the beginning of the school’s seventieth anniversary celebrations which will end tomorrow.
Last year’s records show that ninety nine point five percent of its students are eligible to enter tertiary education.
The school, located in Gazelle district, is a city on its own. It has a student population of over five thousand students throughout its three campuses in the nation.
This new sporting facility includes two courts each for netball, volleyball, and basketball, along with rugby and soccer fields.
Half of the twenty two million kina was used to revive UNRE’s Maprik campus in East Sepik. The school is currently operating with its first intakes.
In terms of building facilities, UNRE has some of the best staff and student accommodation as compared to its two sister universities, with well-maintained lecture rooms and a recently built administration building.
However, UNRE is also facing overcrowding issues after taking on board its students from the New Ireland campus.
Meanwhile, two new flats for female lecturers have also been completed and are ready for use. Four new Tuffa Tanks were also installed.
