Morobe’s Biang Ngayam Festival Coming Soon

The Biang Ngayam Festival may not be as popular as the Morobe show, but it will be an event that will bring people from all over Morobe.

It will showcase some of Morobe’s unique cultures.

“With the developments taking place in Lae, it will slowly kill some of our cultural heritages” Fua Singin, the chairman of the Festival said.

Lae city has been struggling with a battered image of poor road infrastructure, high crime rate, and ethnic clashes.

The festival is a positive event that also seeks to challenge these negative conceptions about Lae.

“We should encourage this so that our people maintain their dignity”, Mr. Singin said.

Lae is not only a city owned by Morobeans. It’s a city that is home to a multitude of people from all over Papua New Guinea. Until recently, Morobe never got the attention it deserved.

The port is being extended, the roads are being upgraded, and the people are slowly becoming ignorant of their cultures. And they want to make sure that while these changes happen, they will remain through to their cultures and identity, as Papua New Guineans with roots.

Morobe is gearing up for one of its biggest cultural events this year.

The Biang Ngayam Festival is scheduled to be staged on the 6th to the 9th of June, in the Morobe Province. Although the event is less than two months  away, the event’s organizers  expect  a big one.
