The O’ Neill- Dion government has 14 days to respond to a petition presented to them by Rouna landowners.
The landowners say they will shut down power and water supply to NCD, if the government delays compensating them for their land.
This is likely to affect residents and business houses in Port Moresby and nearby Central villagers.
In the Petition presented last Friday, the landowners clearly stated their immediate demands.
The demands include;

Revisiting of former MOUs and MOAs signed between the people and the state,Establishment of a commercial Entity; andReleasing of the promised Development Assisted Package, valued at K50 million.They claim that since the last time they shut the power and water supply in 2003; the government responded only with the signing of MOUs and MOAs but did nothing to give the people the benefits they had promised.Representatives from the Prime Minister’s Department say they are aware of the threat, but were not in a position to make comments.On the other hand, Rouna landowners say, if the state does not respond to their petition on Friday, they will go ahead with a sit in protest.They said, they will be forced to shut down water and power supply until the state responds to their demands.Meanwhile, officers from Eda Ranu and PNG Power Headquarters in Port Moresby have refused to comment saying; this is a matter for the government to address.
