Schools in the Moresby South Electorate will no longer face the burden of shortage of classroom infrastructure. This burden will be eased under the Australian Aid program.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott reaffirmed this during his visit to Koki Primary School yesterday.
He was accompanied by the Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Deborah Stokes, NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko.
His visit to the school reaffirms Australia’s commitment to education in the country.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop highlighted the challenges there are in education in Moresby South.
Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko says, a total of 40 new classrooms will be built for schools in Moresby South beginning with Koki Primary School.
Head Teacher of the school Josephine Amos says, the classrooms will ease the burden of the increase in student numbers.
The classrooms will be funded under the Australian Aid Program. Mr. Abbott told the students to be serious about education.
The ground break will pave the way for the construction of 12 new classrooms for Koki Primary School, followed by the other schools
