PNG Games Ambassador, Scott Prince, has encouraged athletes, the Games administration, and the Lae community including PNG as a whole, to work together to make sure that November’s Games are the best.
Prince made the comments during the 30th Australia-PNG Business Forum and Trade Expo in Cairns, Australia.
With preparations for the PNG Games gearing up towards November this year, Prince believes that the attitude in preparation, particularly that of athletes, must be taken seriously to ensure maximum performance and exposure of talent.
The PNG Games Ambassador stressed that having the right diet and mental attitude toward the game can ensure a stable and consistent performance.
With Lae’s accessibility to many coastal ports including the Highlands, and the fact that the Morobe Provincial school year calendar would have come to an end, there will be a large numbers of spectators and supporters expected to flood the gates of Lae City for the November PNG Games.
And with this influx of people expected, the preparation of athletes goes hand in hand with discipline, and this was another main point that Prince mentioned. He said that athletes are role models and should always consider a good sense of restraint as this will help them grow in the careers and personal lives.
