Many disadvantaged children in Papua New Guinea are receiving formal education and proper shelter through the works of different charitable organisations.
Last night, World Vision Port Moresby hosted a cocktail fundraising to raise funds and continue giving orphans and disadvantaged children in PNG hope in life.
During its 20 years of operations in PNG, World Vision has developed programs that have helped many children. It partners with organisations like City Mission, We Care and Office of Street Ministries in educating and giving children a better childhood.
The fundraising celebrations last night mark International Children’s Day, giving World Vision and its partners the opportunity to reflect on how far they have come in supporting disadvantaged children in PNG and how they plan to continue their programs.
In Port Moresby alone, the number of orphans – commonly known as street kids – is on the rise.
The contributions collected last night, including the auctioning of Australian jerseys will go towards programs for disadvantaged and orphaned children.
During the fundraising, Acting Secretary for Religion, Youth and Community Development, Anna Solomon announced that the National Child Protection Policy Act will be brought to parliament in the next parliament sitting.
