MADANG POLICE CLARIFY “OPERATION BRUKIM TULAIT (OBT)” RUMOURS, URGE PUBLIC TO BE CALM
Madang Provincial Police Commander has moved to address and dispel circulating reports about a so-called criminal gang known as Operation Brukim Tulait.
Madang Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Baim clarify that rumours have caused unnecessary fear among law-abiding citizens across Madang.
“The so called criminal gang called Operation Brukim Tulait (OBT) is a mere speculation and a false alarm which is causing fear amongst good law abiding citizens of Madang” said Superintendent Baim.
He added that the Police have already conducted awareness sessions with communities in urban settlements and villages, urging residents not to believe or spread unverified information that could lead to panic.
“Madang police have ruled out this as false alarm and had done awareness to all communities not to believe in such false information causing fear,” Superintendent Baim stated.
The Commander further assured the public that police are prepared to respond should any credible evidence emerge.
“We are ready to get them down if they exist” said Superintendent Baim.
He also announced that a dedicated Taskforce has been established to monitor, track, and investigate any developments related to the rumours.
“I have set up a Taskforce to track these lunatics down if they exist,” said PPC Baim.
Superintendent Baim urged the public to remain calm and avoid actions driven by fear.
“Do not cause fear amongst yourselves. This can cause harm to one another in fear of these non-existing lunatics,” he warned.
