WAGHI TUMBE RUGBY LEAGUE NINES ACTIONS UNDERWAY

The Waghi Tumbe rugby league nines tournament is currently underway with 36 teams vying for the top spot.

The tournament kicked off on Monday and will run for the duration of three weeks to give ample time to the selectors to recruit players for Wagi Tumbe franchise to take part in the PNG NRL Competition.

The Teams are dived in two pools.  Northern pool teams are competing in Banz while the Southern pool teams are battling all out in Minz in a round robin format.

Jiwaka provincial Governor’s first secretary Kubung Murang when officiating the nines competition urged the participating players to give their best in the competition.

Murang said rugby league is a discipline sporting code that youths who are involved in it must be disciplined and professional.

Former PNG Kumuls player and Mt Hagen Eagles captain Max Tiri who is a current member of the Waghi Tumbe board said Tumbe is yet to win a premiership since its establishment and it’s about time they win the competition.

He said this while challenging players to be committed and represent the province with dedication and pride.
