ACTING POLICE COMMISSIONER, KUA APPLAUDS SPECIALS OPERATIONS

The deployment of joint force Special Operations to the upper Highlands has assisted to crack down law and order issues in the area.

Acting Police Commissioner Samson Kua confidently stated, that Police and PNGDF special operations units headed by Commander Anthony Wagambie Jnr has led to major arrests.

“The results of the Special Joint Operations led by Commander Wagambi is proving to be a success,” Kua said.

“More arrests and confiscation of dangerous weapons is expected in the coming weeks of the operation.”

Several arrests being made so far including five suspects who have been setting up illegal roadblocks in Jiwaka province.

Eleven other suspects were arrested and charged in Wabag for blocking the National highway to Enga.

Acting Commissioner Kua said, another 18 men were arrested for tribal fighting in Wapenamanda. The 18 suspects were detained under the Counter Terrorism Act.

“The operation will continue to ensure there is peace and normalcy in communities and to promote investment and economic growth in the Upper Highlands region,” Kua stated.
