Finschhafen District Member Rainbo Paita has been elected as the new Governor of Morobe, replacing the Late Governor, Luther Akisawa Wenge.
Paita defeated Tewai- Siassi MP, Dr Kobby Bomareo 23-22 after Member for Bulolo Sam Basil Juniuor stood down from contesting the vacated seat.
This was announced by acting chairman of the Morobe Tutumang and Deputy Governor, Willie Simbisi at the Tutumang Haus (provincial assembly) today.
The Tutumang has been suspended for the Chairman to make his declaration of the office.
