MADANG TOWN CLEANATHON

Madang town came alive over the weekend as the Police Prosecution team, led by Senior Constable Eugene Wanai, hosted the second “Bring Back Beautiful Madang” cleanathon.
The program drew strong support from business houses, schools, and members of the public, who turned out in numbers to help clean the township.
Wanai said the cleanathon will now become a monthly activity aimed at keeping Madang clean and safe. He thanked the business community, schools, and residents for their contributions, describing the response as encouraging and a sign that people were beginning to take ownership of their town.
He explained that the cleanup is also part of preparations for Papua New Guinea’s 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations on September 16 and urged residents to take greater responsibility in managing their waste.
Participants, including business representatives and teachers, echoed Wanai’s sentiments, calling on more people to support the initiative as a step forward in restoring pride and safety in Madang.
