James Marape is the first candidate in the 2022 National General Election to be declared this afternoon at 4:49pm in Tari as the member for Tari Pori.
He was declared after scoring 40, 913 votes, which is over the absolute majority in the first count.
The emotional Marape thanked the people of Tari Pori for their undivided support and electing him back.
“I thank the security personnel, election officials and everyone involved in the outcome.I am humbled and committed to serving you, my people of Tari Pori.
“I also thank the candidates who contested and I now want us all to work together for peace and unity and development in Tari-Pori,” said Prime Minister Marape.
