PIH Opens New Medical Centre at Waigani

Prime Minister James Marape recently opened the Pacific International Hospital’s new medical centre at Waigani.

The expansion of PIH has been described as a momentous public-private partnership initiative in healthcare in PNG. Chairman of PIH, Sir Moi Avei said added that the hospital started as a tertiary care Hospital facility at 3-mile in 2015

He thanked the Prime Minister for gracing the occasion on Thursday, August 27th to open the new medical centre and reiterated his gratitude to the private investors for partnering with the Government in 2015 to resurrect the original MVIL hospital project.

Sir Moi congratulated the PIH management on completion of the project despite various limitations and restriction due to the COVID-19 pandemic and requested the Government to consider subsidy program for public patients to access the facilities being offered at PIH, especially Cardiac service, which is currently unavailable at PMGH and for the two institutions to work together in this area for the benefit of citizens.
