Retired Catholic Bishop Christian Blouin passes on

The Catholic Church in Lae is mourning the death of retired Bishop late Christian Blouin, who passed away yesterday. 

He collapsed during a visit to Markham, and was rushed to the Angau hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. 

Yesterday, Catholic parishioners who heard of late Bishop Christian Blouin’s passing flocked to the St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lae’s top town.

There they paid their respects, and took his body to the Glen Rowen Funeral home.

According to Father Arnold Schmitt, the Parish Priest of the St. Mary’s Cathedral, the Late Bishop Blouin had a stroke in January last year, and survived after undergoing a heart operation.

The Late Retired Bishop Christian Blouin, served as the Bishop in Lae for 11 years until his retirement last year.

 He died at the age of 77.
