Kabwum schools need Standed Based Curriculum materials

By: Maryboio Nigani – EMTV Cadet Journalist, Lae

As schools throughout PNG prepare to roll out the standard based curriculum next year, the delivery of materials is yet seen as a problem. Two Primary schools in Kabwum district are awaiting Standed Based Curriculum materials to roll out the curriculum on time.

Boyang and Yalumet Primary schools are two of many primary schools in Morobe that need SBC materials, says staffs from the school. Yalumet primary head teacher Shonney Sokep said the school cannot implement the SBC without materials.

“Few materials are in Derim and Kabwum station, we need the materials…if the materials are not delivered quickly then it would be a problem” said Mr Sokep

He said the school faces transportation problems therefore wants the materials to be delivered straight to the schools.

Similar concerns were raised by head teacher from Boyang Primary, Kuma Torika.

“We have issue with teaching materials. We need funds…to implement SBC will be a problem because we didn’t receive any SBC materials yet,” said Mr Torika.

Mr Torika said it is challenging to implement a new curriculum having unresolved issues in school.
