PNG Governor General Welcomes Newly-appointed Polish Ambassador

The State now recognizes newly-appointed non-resident Ambassador to PNG from The Republic of Poland, Michal Kolodziejski.

The Governor General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, accepted his letter of credence today (May 22) during official rituals of diplomatic accreditation.

Addressing the Governor General today Mr Kolodjzieski took the opportunity to restate an invitation from the President of Poland to the Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae to attend the Conference of Parties (COP24) in Katowice Slaskie, Poland come December.

“I would like to reiterate the invitation extended to your Exellency (Governor General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae) by the President of Poland to the COP24 climate conference” Mr Kolodziejski said.

He also conveyed Poland’s gratitude to the State for its support towards Poland’s bid for the non-permanent seat in the UN Security for the 2018 to 2019 term.

The Governor General noted that that since diplomatic relations were established in 1978, PNG continues to enjoy a warm friendly relation with Poland.

Mr Kolodziejski said he was keen to continue his predecessor’s role in enhancing economic cooperation noting that Poland almost tripled its import of agricultural products from PNG. He said, “I believe that there are great untapped opportunities for further cooperation in green technologies, construction, aviation and mining industries. Polish investors are very interested in playing a more active role to provide substantial future growth opportunities for foreign investment in PNG”

The Governor General said the State was grateful for Poland’s support in development assistance through the European Union and welcomed future investment and development opportunities.

“We are indeed pleased to receive you (Mr Kolodziejski) and look forward to enhancing and furthering the already good bilateral relations that exist between Papua New Guinea and the Republic of Poland since formally establishing diplomatic relations forty years ago.” said the Governor General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae.

Newly-appointed Polish Ambassador Michal Kolodziejski will be based in Canberra, Australia as a non-resident ambassador to PNG.
