Over 300 Patients Treated with Eye Care Services

Over 300 people in North Fly district of Western Province were provided eye care services by a visiting eye specialist team from Mt. Hagen Hospital last month.

According to Tabubil Hospital Administrator, Margareth Samei, over 60 patients had their eye operated in both Tabubil and Kiunga hospitals.

The patients were mainly treated and operate for;

  1. Cataract – a clouding of the lens in the eye and
  2. Pterygium – a pinkish triangular tissue growth on the cornea

Samei said the medical care provided by the eye specialists was also open to the public in Tabubil, Kiunga and Telefomin areas.

The next eye visit is being planned for November.
