Kaugere Community to get TB-testing Lab

Kaugere Health Centre will soon have a mini TB lab.

Today the health centre received two 20-foot containers from Leon Enterprises.

These containers will be converted and used as a lab to diagnose TB patients on-the-spot, and commence on treatment.

This morning, Leon Enterprises officially handed over two 20 foot containers to the Kaugere Health Centre.

General Practitioner Dr Koliwan, stated that with the rise of TB cases in NCD, it is important for the Health Centre to have a lab to process TB results in less than a week.

“Tests take weeks to be processed for what should 2-3 days. The clinics have a huge backlog and this disease cannot afford time,” said Dr Koliwan.

Leon Enterprise Manager, Jason Choong, stated that he was more than happy to help the Kaugere Health Centre.

Senior pastor for the Kaugere Living Light Foursquare Church stated that since the church had been built, it continues to impact lives, and major changes have happened at Kaugere.

The lab will only enhance helping people.

Kaugere Health Centre provides many vital services including antenatal care, TB care, HIV testing and other important needs.

Built in 2014, it sees over 200 patients on a daily basis, from all parts of NCD, Central and also Gulf Province.
