Water to be prioritized in NCD, low pressure to be experienced by Residents

Water supplied into the Nation’s Capital will be high priority.

Eda Ranu Managing Director, Henry Mokono, said the treatment facilities outside Mt Eriama and Rouna are experiencing high turbidity.

“We will assess the level of turbidity up in our dams, hospitals and other health facilities will be prioritised,” said Mr. Mokono.

The water company said water will be prioritised and restored with parts of the city experiencing low pressure. “I assure our clients that water will be restored in the next 3 to 4 hours” said Mokono.

Eda Ranu engineers are monitoring the flow of debris and other substances washed into the treatment facility.

Residents and other clients will experience low pressure as the company will be prioritising the volume supplied.

The company said quality water will be maintained for use. While six reservoirs in the city have been isolated from the supply outside Mt Eriama.

Eda Ranu is now working closely with PNG Power to assess the supply’s turbidity.

The company said the risk is not high, as 60 -70 % of water is available to supply the city.
