Few hours remains before the official opening of the Games, EMTV Online took it to the streets of Kimbe to find out the general preparedness of the town in regards to the Games.

Locals can be seen flooding the town as the clock winds down towards the big day tomorrow.

The astonishing fact to know is, everyone has his or her own story in the preparations of the PNG Games. The general scene EMTV Online can bring for Kimbe includes a town under the canopy of Oil Palms, stretching along the coast of the great Kimbe Bay with friendly hardworking people who nearly lose the happiness of seeing the Games in their homeland.

“West New Britain is a very good province to live in with good friendly people and full of good food.”  Rachael Marthias told EMTV Online.  Marthias who is from Jiwaka province and has lived in Kimbe for only a year said the locals are very friendly and treat others as family with their openness and welcoming approaches.

The people of East New Britain nearly lost hope in seeing the 7 PNG Games hosted in their home province.

“But Governor Sasindran Muthuvel ‘s announcement of the continuance of the Games has brought much rejoicing to the people,” Joycelyn Francis said adding the communities had voluntarily gotten involved in the clean-up and general preparations after the announcement. At the venues, everyone were busy, from the host team to contractors’ workers.

The hardworking contractors involved in the construction of venues have confirmed working both day and night to complete the venues, especially the Muthuvel Stadium.

“Korea and PNG Limited is against time, but the workers are already working very very hard to have the Stadium completed before the Opening Ceremony,” a worker told EMTV Online.
