The Grade 12s who graduated were part of the government’s pilot project to roll out the Standard Base Curriculum, apart from two other schools in the Highlands Provinces.
The school, which had started initially as a small kindergarten in 1993, has expanded in the recent past.
Founder Benjamin Mul said his institution is all about giving second chances to students who have been rejected by the system, to continue high school and secondary level of education.
Education Minister, Nick Kuman congratulated the granduands while taking part in a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a fully funded science lab for the school.
Kuman said the grade 12 graduands have scored above 50% in their grade 10 exams in 2015 and that he is pleased to see students striving to achieve better.
On the occasion, Mr. Mul also made a proposal to the Minister and the secretary for a teacher’s college for the school.
This proposal follows the recent Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Goroka and the Waigani Christian Academy to have a UOG centre established in the school ground.
