Jimi MP: Students’ Priority

Grade 12 School Leavers from Jimi in Jiwaka Province will be covered by the corporate sponsorship of the District Development Authority.

Jimi MP, Wake Goi, has been visiting Teachers and Nursing Colleges in the Country to secure space.

Last Friday, Goi visited Enga Teachers and Nursing Colleges.

He said his electorate needs human resources to bring back services to their villages, since Jimi people are faced with difficult geographical and rough terrains.

He said having them under corporate sponsorship is a stronger program for human resource capital building.

The Jimi MP has been visiting Teachers and Nursing colleges in Lae, Goroka, Madang and recently Wabag.

Enga Teachers and School of Nursing have allowed for Jimi students to be on corporate sponsorship, but they appealed to MP Goi, to take care of the students’ welfare.

The call follows past incidents of other MP’s sending students on corporate sponsorship, but did not take care of their welfare after that.

The Enga School of Nursing will offer a three year Diploma course while the Teachers college will offer a 3-year Diploma, and one year Certificate courses for Primary and elementary teaching.

Jimi students have been on the same scholarship from 2007 to 2012 when Goi was in Parliament.

He re-introduced this sponsorship program when he was re-elected this year.
