2017 Ribbon Pink Lunch Launched

by Marie Kauna – EMTV Online, Port Moresby

The 2017 Pink Ribbon Lunch was launched yesterday by PNG Cancer Foundation CEO Dadi Toka Jnr.

The Pink Ribbon Lunch is a fresh twist of the annual Pink Ribbon Brunch.

“Pink Ribbon Lunch is a re-branding of the Pink Ribbon Brunch; it’s the same concept but it’s now a lunch, to make it easier for people to attend…with change of time to lunch,” Toka said.

With the month of October nearing, the focus now is to create more awareness on the types of cancer affecting women in Papua New Guinea.

“October is a month for women cancer awareness and this initiative is a drive forward for the PNG Cancer Foundation to deliver more awareness programs”.

One of the highlights he mentioned at the launching is the prevalence of cervical cancer in the country.

“The most common cancer for women in PNG is Cervical cancer…it’s a major issue, a major topic that needs a lot more advocacy, as well as a lot of cancer service provided to reduce that burden”.

The new brand will allow the corporate community to actively participate and support the women cancer awareness program in the country.

Mr Toka thanked the Royal Papua Yacht Club, Moore Printing and DHL for their support towards the PNG Cancer Foundation’s work.
