The 23rd annual conference of UN’s Framework convention on Climate Change or simply COP23 (Conference of the Parties) will be held in Bonn, Germany, in November.
Fiji will be organising the meet which will run from the 6th to 17th November 2017.
As a Pacific nation facing the challenges of global warming through the force of climate change, action has been called for countries, communities and individuals to do what they can to help lower the costs of climate change.
While it may seem such a mammoth of a task, it all begins with the realisation that the world we live in is home to millions of species of lifeforms, from animals to plants to humans all sharing the same planet.
With the knowledge, that of all those lifeforms, humans have a better chance of actually doing something about containing the amount of carbon that is released from our daily activities that harm the environment.
While a protest may not be necessary, little eco-friendly practices such as recycling, putting your rubbish in the right place and not just anywhere you like, turning off the light when you’re not in the room, switching off power-points and unplugging appliances when done using them, conservable water usage, less dependent on electricity and electrical gadgets as the more they’re being used, more energy will be required which is the opposite of the aim here, and that is to conserve energy. There are many more ways for you to get involved with this global fight.
You could also get into a photo competition to show your support.
As part of COP23, photographers both amateurs and professionals across the Pacific have the chance of having their work displayed in Bonn, Germany during the conference. You can send in pictures that depict:
- The human and/or environmental impacts of climate change; OR
