The commitment to grow women’s cricket goes from strength to strength, as cricket superstars will now be closer to fans than ever before.
The International Cricket Council announced yesterday that the ICC Women’s World Cup is the first global sporting event to have special Twitter emojis for team captains.
As part of ICC’s extraordinary digital coverage of the women’s games, the partnership with Twitter allows fans to unlock and use the emoji by hash-tagging a cricketer’s name.
With the opener of the Women’s World Cup in England yesterday, this digital tool came in handy as fans utilise the emojis in support of individual players and, or teams.
ICC Head of Media Rights, Broadcast and Digital Aarti Dabas said this will help fans discover and stay in touch with the accounts of cricket’s biggest superstars.
