The Inter-Departmental Election Committee (IDEC) Team will host its first meeting in the Hela Capital, Tari.
Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, is awaiting the arrival Of Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato with PNGDF Comander, Gilbert Toropo.
The meeting will be held with the Hela Provincial Government Administrator, William Bando, Hela PPC Michael Weli, Hela Election Manager John Tipu and other senior officials.
Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari will also attend. He is the Chairman of the IDEC.
All the members of the IDEC are now in Tari for the meeting. The IDEC Team will then visit Mendi, Wabag, Mt Hagen, Jiwaka, Simbu for similar program, and end the visit in Goroka.
Chairman Of IDEC Isaac Lupari says the objective of the IDEC visit is to give confidence to the general public for a free, safe and fair election throughout the country.
Lupari said the Highlands Region is a hotspot for lawlessness and other related disturbance in election.
Chairman Lupari said security measures are in place to counteract challenges. Lupari called on every appointed Election Officials to diligently perform their duties.
