Two North East candidates were nominated to contest the elections today.
Carl Okuk, the son of Iambakey Okuk a former member of parliament has been nominated.
John Kaupa from six mile also nominated for the same seat.
Both men are contesting the seat held by Labi Amaiu.
In the last two weeks, Port Moresby has been flaring up for the elections, with candidates nominating every day.
Supporters are visibly seen, loaded in vehicles, making their way to the Jack Pidik Park for nominations.
Today, a son of one of PNGs founding fathers is nominated. Carl Okuk says he brings integrity with him.
Honesty is now a drawing card for many hopeful candidates.
“All candidates bring the same policies, but we bring honesty and sincerity,” says Okuk.
Today, John Kaupa and his supporters nominated for the same seat. Kaupa says he stands to protect the people.
“My people are facing land issues,” says Kaupa.
Both men are looking to enter parliament. Their supporters want them too, but the Moresby North East is a big electorate, and the number of votes will come from strong holds.
