Sir Mekere Questions Appointment

Former Prime Minister, Sir Mekere Morauta, alleges that the O’Neill-Dion government is taking political control of the Western Province.

He has called on Western Province to unite against the latest allegations.

Sir Mekere alleges that the P’Nayang gas fields maybe the subject of a take over by Southern Highlands interests.

He states royalty funds in the hundred thousands, CMCA and non-CMCA, kept at the Ok Tedi Development foundation and the Mineral Policy Department are at risk.

The Former Prime Minister said the proposal appointment of a new Provincial Administrator is a serious threat to the future of their province.

He has made a series of allegations against the ruling People’s National Congress Party, accusing acting Governor, Roy Biyama of rushing to appointment.

Sir Mekere says the Western Province has only one MP, and needs a new provincial assembly with four MP’s.
