More Than 20 Men Who Disrupted Operations at Angau Hospital Arrested

Police have arrested more than 20 men who disrupted operations at the Emergency Unit at Angau Hospital in Lae on Saturday night.

Lae Police boss, Chief Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr said police were alerted and managed to stop commotion in time.

Additional charges would be laid once Police receive statements from the eyewitnesses.

The incident started at the Huon Gulf Motel in Lae, during a confrontation with a group of men and the security guards outside the motel.

Two members of the group were injured and then assisted to Angau by a relative and local businessman in Lae, Titus Maima.

Reports of the incident were posted on Facebook with businessman, Titus Maima accused of disrupting the operations at Angau.

However, Police dispelled rumours on social media saying Maima assisted to stop the commotion caused by his relatives.

They will lay additional charges once they get statements from the hospital staff, patients and security guards on duty at Angau at the time of the incident.

Wagambie Jr. says it is a serious matter and called on the public to respect the hospital, staff and patients.
