People going to see Ombudsman Commission officers today were shocked to find the office chained shut.
EMTV News was informed that the doors were locked last week Friday.
Ombudsman Commission headquarters, occupies the ground, fifth and sixth floors of Deloittes Tower in downtown Port Moresby.
Reliable sources say the Ombudsman Commission was given a 10-day eviction notice on the 10th of March, which was executed last Friday.
The office tower is owned by Nasfund, and CEO Ian Tarutia said in an email “We are following normal process to recover unpaid rent.”
Finance Secretary, Dr. Ken Ngangan, committed to an interview on the matter but was unable to give that interview today.
But it seems, this is not just a Port Moresby issue. EMTV News in Lae confirmed that the Ombudsman Commission’s Momase Regional Office in Lae is also closed.
The Ombudsman Commission also have regional offices in Mt Hagen, Kokopo and recently established an office in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
We cannot confirm at this stage if those offices are also affected.
