The Lae City Dwellers enter into their second OFC Champions League campaign in three days time, against Malampa revivors of Vanuatu.
The new season has seen a change in personnel for the PNG Champions, who will be without the services of a number of key players.
However, former midfielder, Michael Foster, has said, the club must have the belief in themselves, as they look to progress past the group stages.
Michael foster, who is in Port Moresby as part of the PNG Squads preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers, is adamant that there is enough quality with the current champions to do well in the competition.
Foster who has had numerous OFC Champions League experiences, after having stints with both LCD and Hekari United, says, despite losing key members from the last outing, has to have the belief that they can perform well.
In 2015, the Lae City Dwellers had taken the Telikom National Soccer League by storm. Racing to the top of the domestic competition, and following that up a year later with victory over archrivals, Hekari.
Those performances earning them back to back places in the regions top tier competition.
Last year however, was a baptism of fire for Lae City, travelling internationally for the first time, had been an eye-opening experience for the side.
Culture shock, and New Zealand’s cooler conditions, Dwellers suffered on pitch as a result.
They succumbed in a demoralising 3-0 loss to Amicale, before two close encounters against Auckland City and Solomon Warriors gained them belief, and tons of respect.
They head into the new year, with a number of new recruits, including crafty maestro Emmanuel Simon and New Zealander George Debenham, and this will no doubt bolster the side. And Michael Foster, is confident, his former team mates will do well.
