South Africa took the lead in the first five minutes and held on despite close comebacks from Fiji in the second half.
South Africa eventually won by 19-12 to claim their third consecutive USA Sevens title.
In the Bronze play-off, host USA made history after defeating New Zealand 19-15 for the first time ever to claim the third-place win at home.
